Having a nice pair of clean, white socks is great, but stains happen more often than you would think and they are frankly terrible to try and deal with. Understandably, you will want to try and reduce the amount of stains that occur on a daily basis, which is why it’s a good idea to know how to get grass stains out of your white socks.

Thankfully, we’ve amassed a few tips and tricks, so let’s take a look at what’s available to deal with stains quickly and effectively.

Keep Harsh Chemicals Out of It

The first and best thing you can do when it comes to trying to get grass stains out of your clothes, particularly socks, is to keep the harsher chemicals out of the picture. The problem with a lot of these chemicals is that they can be both irritating to the skin – the foot can be a sensitive area – and they damage the structural integrity of the sock. As you probably don’t want to be replacing them straight away, stick to less extreme methods.

Thankfully, you can also use a wealth of different options that are commonly found in the home, like vinegar and baking soda.

The key to any good cleaning method is to fill up a bucket or bowl with warm water and add your cleaning ingredient of choice. Some people use baking soda and others use vinegar – it is up to you if you want to use one or both. It does often depend on how extreme the stain is as to what methods you use to get rid of it.

Send It Through the Wash

Of course, you don’t have to go straight to the home remedies for every grass stain – some of them are more minor than others and can just be worked out in the wash. You’d be best to do it with a healthy dose of washing powder, and on a hot temperature to really boil the stain away.

This won’t work for every stain, of course. A lot of grass stains, particularly the bad ones, can take more than a run through the wash to get out. However, if you can get the bulk of the stain out with the wash, then it would just be a simple matter of sorting out the last patches of discolouration at the end.
