When it comes to makeup stains, they’re definitely a problem to get on your clothes. However, it’s also inevitable to an extent – even the most careful person can get makeup stains on clothing when they’re in a rush or just not being careful. Thankfully, it’s not the end of the world.

There are a few things that you can do to tackle makeup stains, so let’s take a look at them and see if we can save you a bit of time and hassle.

Tackling Makeup Stains on Clothing

The first big challenge comes in the form of taking makeup stains and removing them from clothing. This can be difficult if you’re new to the concept but there are a few things you can do to make the process easier. Thankfully, you can easily remove these stains with items you have just lying around your home, like washing up powder, baking soda, vinegar, and other types of items.

You’ll want to start this process off by scraping off all of the excess makeup that hasn’t already settled into the fabric. You can use a knife or anything else with a flat, pointed edge. This will make removal a lot easier. Never push or rub the makeup when you’re doing this, however, as it will make the stain worse.

You can use stain remover on some types of stains but be careful when trying to get stains out of thin or delicate fabrics. They are often not suited to harsher chemicals so you’ll need to be a little more careful with them. Once you’ve applied the stain remover, let it sit for 15-20 minutes and give it time to work. When it has, that’s when you can start to scrub a little.

Removing Stains From Carpet and Upholstery

Carpet and upholstery can be a pain to sort out but it isn’t the end of the world. With some similar methods to getting makeup stains out of clothing, you can also take them out of both upholstery and carpet.

You will need to get started in the same way by removing any of the access makeup with a flat, pointed edge like a kitchen knife, or even a plastic credit card.

You can also apply many of the same techniques to remove makeup stains from clothing or carpet and upholstery, but as is the case with your clothes, you need to be careful. Not every piece of furniture will react well to certain cleaning chemicals, so check the guidance tag or leaflet that came with the upholstery for more information.
